Vol. 24, No. 29: July 20, 1995
If something works once, why not try it again? Ever the optimist, Murray McGrath, innkeeper of the Inn at Long Trail, and publican to McGrath's Irish Pub, is staging the return of the hugely popular band in New York City, Four to the Bar. This will be a Friday night show only!
"Talk about a coup of coups," says Murray enthusiastically. "This group is incredible, with its high- energy and rock-like adaptation of traditional Irish songs. It was with an extraordinary amount of luck that we were able to bring them here to Vermont for the first time in April and now we are able to bring them back a second time. You'll want to mark your calendars for this night!"
The lads, hailing from counties Cork, Kerry. Monaghan, and Meath, bring together a great fusion of music. They give sensitivity equally to the meditative ballads as they give vigor to the jigs, reels, and rocking numbers. They were reviewed by the Irish Voice as "one of the most original traditional modern groups to be seen on this side of the Atlantic.... Infectious energy and outstanding entertainment." Their second CD, Another Son, is hot off the presses. The band has played in small pubs to grand outdoor music festivals which gives them great experience in stage presence and craic with the audience. It'll be a great show.
